Research Funding and Bid Support
Navigating the world of research funding can be a tricky business. Whether it’s drafting a punchy lay summary…help with writing your Data Management Plan or drawing up a winning budget, I use my professional experience gained in a world leading UK university to make bidding a stress-free experience.
All you need is a great idea.
So how can I help?
There will be times when the level of support that can be provided by an in-house Research Office won’t be enough. Without specialist funder knowledge, dedicated and consistent support and thorough attention to detail, even the most exciting and innovative project plans can miss out on much-needed funding.
I work flexibly with ambitious academics, of all career stages, who need a specialised 1-1 support service to take their research plans to the next level.
Maybe you are new to funding and are struggling to find the right scheme. Or you could be rushed off your feet and need help drafting content? Or perhaps you need non-academic partners to boost your impact?
Below is a selection of the support services I offer:
- Introduction to research funding
- Sourcing funding opportunities and summarising guidance
- Communicating with funders
- Structuring your project plan
- Aligning your research with beneficiaries
- Building a competitive budget
- Understanding staff costings
- Identifying and communicating with project partners
- Drafting proposal content
- Designing effective outputs and innovative plans for dissemination
- Reviewing and providing comments/suggestions
- Reviewing and editing content
- Proofreading
- Online/technical support leading up to submission
I charge an hourly rate, so support levels can be chosen to suit any budget.
Why choose me?
I have personally supported £7 million worth of successful funding bids to funders such as ESRC, AHRC, GCRF, Research England, The Leverhulme Trust, British Academy, Lloyds Bank and The Nuffield Foundation.
I have undertaken professional Research Facilitator training at the University of Birmingham and through ARMA.
Having been educated to postgraduate level at a UK Russell Group university, I am able to understand, design and present research methodology to a wide range of audiences.
So how does it work?
If you have a project idea which needs funding, send me an email or a message via the Contact page and I will reply within 24 hours to arrange a free phone consultation. We will discuss your plans, capacity, experience and requirements. Following the consultation, I will then estimate how long I would need to spend on the work and provide you with a quotation based on my hourly rate.
You are then free to decide if you would like to go ahead. Alternatively, you can tell me what your budget is and I can design an affordable support plan to suit your needs.
